Traumatic Brain Injury - A Commitment to Excellence

Priority Home Care, Inc. has expanded its Commitment to Excellence in Service through the recent establishment of a Traumatic Brain Injury Division. In May 2006 Priority received formal New York State approval for this new Program and assembled a highly qualified TBI staff.

This Program will service the entire New York region including all of Long Island, the Boroughs of New York City, and from Westchester to Dutchess County. We hope to expand this program to neighboring New Jersey and Connecticut by year end.

The TBI Program maintains a "Person Centered" approach to community based support and services for individuals with Acquired and Traumatic Brain Injury. This is embodied in the Program's Mission:

"To Assist Individuals in Realizing Their Strengths and Foster Independence by Providing the Most Meaningful Individualized Service."

Our TBI program provides Service Coordination through the development of an Individualized Service Plan, Home & Community Based Services, Independent & Living Skills Service, Respite, 24 Hour On-call Service with the ultimate goal of Consumer and Family improvement and independence grounded in Consumer Satisfaction.

Launch of Hand Held Computers for Field Nurses

The parent company of Priority, Premier Home Health Care Services, has always been committed to make the most of technology to improve the quality of patient care. Our latest project is a pilot program in our New Jersey offices (the Metropolitan Home Health Care division) to provide our field nurses with handheld computers. These "PDA Smartphones" are cell phones, internet browsers, e-mail agents, and much more. They have custom developed software that allows the nurses to fill out Prior Approval Assessment forms while they are in the patients' homes and transmit them back to the corporate office for processing via a wireless data network. Fifteen of these hand held computers are utilized by our field nurses and the initial feed back has been very positive.

In the coming months we will expand the functionality of this software to include most of the forms and client documentation that the nurses currently handle on paper. This will enable them to have the latest information on each client while they are in field and to update it in real time. In addition, nurses will receive all of the information they need for new clients on the hand held computers and when they have filled out the care plan and other documentation on these computers it will be wirelessly transmitted back to the corporate office. Once this new version of the software has been developed and tested in our New Jersey offices, it will be rolled out for the rest of the offices in the Premier family in Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, New York, and Ohio.
